A graduate of Stanford University, Dr. Laughlin earned his D.D.S. degree at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry, where he later taught courses in crown & bridge. He practiced general dentistry for 7 years before attending the University of Pennsylvania for orthodontic training. He has over 25 years of experience.

Dr. Laughlin is a member of the following: American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists & the California Dental Association. He is also a member of several study groups, including 2 for the study & advancement of lingual (behind the teeth) orthodontics, one of which he is the founder.

While his practice consists of children, teenagers and adults, more than 60% of Dr. Laughlin's patients are adults. He offers smaller metal brackets as well as clear brackets and is recognized for his work with lingual brackets which are placed behind the teeth and are completely non-visible.
